Artist Statement

Creating a visual that is appealing to the eye is an important part of a work of art but what makes a masterpiece is not the aesthetic appeal but the story within the image. Photography is about sharing stories that can be told without having to speak any words. Without words we rely on feelings to understand the narrative we are given. My artwork is an expression of feelings I desire to tell the world. The universal bond that can be obtained through music is a feeling I aim to capture; the beauty of a moment where the souls of people are intertwined through the sound of music is one which I wish to share with the world. A memorable moment is not just able to be captured through a lens but also created. Making portraiture that creates a certain story and moment is another way in which I express my visions and feelings.

Art is more than a physical or digital image, art is a language. Through this language I make images that are still but have life in them. The stories that my photographs tell are not meant to tell you everything but be an introduction to the narrative for it to continue to expand in your mind. When coming to a piece of art you never understand it fully at first, the whole story is never fully given off the bat as there will always be more to a piece of artwork than the surface. Incorporating gestures, strong colors, and emotions my goal is to make my artwork teach the viewer a story I wish to tell and one which they can add to and expand on.
